Each registered domain name has a minimum of two Name Server records that show where it is hosted i.e. by using these records you point your Internet domain to the servers of a particular web hosting provider. In this way, you've got both your site and your e-mails handled by the exact same service provider. On the lower level of the Domain Name System (DNS), nevertheless, there is a variety of other records, such as A and MX. The former reveals which server deals with the website for a given domain and is always an IP address (123.123.123.123), while the second one indicates which server manages the emails and is always an alphanumeric string (mx1.domain.com). For example, whenever you type a domain address in your Internet browser, your request is sent through the global DNS system to the company whose NS records the domain uses and from there you may be forwarded to the servers of another service provider provided you have set an IP address of the latter as an A record for your domain address. Having independent records for the site and the e-mails means you can have your website and your e-mails with two different providers if you would like.

Custom MX and A Records in Cloud Hosting

If you have a cloud hosting account with our company and you want to move either your website or your emails to another company, it'll take you literally simply 2 clicks to do it. Our Hepsia Control Panel comes with an easy-to-use DNS Records tool, where all your domain names and subdomains will be listed alphabetically and you are going to be able to see and edit the A and/or MX records for any of them. If you choose to use a different e-mail provider and they ask you to set up more MX records than the standard 2, it's not going to take more than a couple of mouse clicks either to add them. Also you can set different latency for these records and the lower the latency, the bigger the priority a particular MX record will have. The propagation of each record that you change or set up isn't going to take more than several hours and if needed, you'll also be able to set the so-called Time-To-Live value, which indicates how long a record will remain active after it is modified or deleted.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, included with our semi-dedicated hosting packages, will enable you to see the A and MX records for every one of the domains or subdomains in your account and if needed, to edit any of them or create new ones. Managing these records is quite easy because all domains/subdomains will be listed alphabetically, so updating a record is as simple as entering it in a box and saving the change. Creating a new one takes only a few more clicks and in case you experience any difficulties, you can check out our instructional videos on how to set up A and MX records. Our system is intuitive enough to be used by individuals with little or no previous experience, yet sophisticated enough to offer you 100 % control over all records and to allow you to have different A records even for domain.com and www.domain.com. If you're switching your emails to a different service provider and they ask you to set up more than two different MX records, you can choose the priority of each one.
